Hope on the Horizon

In this short series in 2025, we focus on the central Advent theme of hope – by which we do not mean wishful optimism, but the sure and certain hope that the saving promise of God first fulfilled in Bethlehem will be brought its ultimate conclusion at the end of the age. To hope, as a Christian, is to trust boldly in God’s redeeming power, even when external circumstances call the victory of love into serious question. Following the lectionary passages for the season, we’ll look into the prophets and the gospels to strengthen our hope and in the process find peace, joy and love.
